Comment Policy
Last Updated: August 19, 2026
Welcome to the Soulful Table community.
Soulful Table is built around food, discovery, creativity, compassion, joyful living, thoughtful conversation, and the pleasure of sharing what we learn with one another.
Comments are an extension of that table.
We welcome questions, cooking experiences, helpful substitutions, travel stories, thoughtful opinions, constructive feedback, and conversations that help other readers learn and enjoy Soulful Table more fully.
This Comment Policy explains the standards that apply when participating in comments or other community areas on Soulful Table.
By submitting a comment, you agree to follow this policy.
Our Community Philosophy
We want Soulful Table to feel like gathering around a table with people who are curious, generous, thoughtful, and excited to share.
That does not mean everyone needs to agree.
Different experiences and viewpoints can make a conversation more useful.
What matters is how we speak to one another.
We encourage comments that are:
- Kind
- Respectful
- Helpful
- Relevant
- Curious
- Constructive
- Honest
- Thoughtful
- Welcoming
There is room for disagreement.
There is not room for cruelty.
What We Love to See
We especially welcome comments that help other Soulful Table readers.
Examples include:
- Sharing how a recipe turned out
- Asking a recipe question
- Describing a substitution you tried
- Explaining how you adjusted cooking time
- Sharing a gluten-free or allergy-conscious variation
- Describing a different appliance or cooking method
- Offering helpful ingredient information
- Sharing a restaurant or travel experience
- Asking thoughtful questions about vegan living
- Sharing practical sustainability ideas
- Suggesting ways a guide could be clearer
- Reporting an accessibility issue
- Sharing constructive feedback
- Telling us what you would like to see next
Comments do not need to be positive in order to be welcome.
Thoughtful criticism can be extremely helpful.
Constructive Criticism Is Welcome
You are welcome to say that:
- A recipe did not work for you
- You disliked a flavor
- An instruction was confusing
- A cooking time seemed inaccurate
- A product did not meet your expectations
- A restaurant experience differed from ours
- A travel recommendation was not right for you
- You disagree with something we published
Please explain your experience when possible.
A comment such as:
“Mine was much drier than the photograph. I used almond flour instead of the suggested flour. Could that have caused it?”
helps everyone learn.
A comment whose only purpose is to insult the author, another commenter, or the community does not.
Recipe Questions and Substitutions
Recipe comments are an important part of Soulful Table.
We encourage questions about:
- Ingredients
- Substitutions
- Cooking methods
- Appliance differences
- Texture
- Flavor
- Storage
- Freezing
- Serving
- Preparation
- Dietary adaptations
When suggesting substitutions, please remember that results can vary.
Changing one ingredient can affect:
- Moisture
- Structure
- Sweetness
- Browning
- Binding
- Rise
- Flavor
- Cooking time
- Texture
Sharing what you actually tried is especially valuable.
Dietary and Allergy Discussions
Soulful Table may include vegan, plant-forward, gluten-free, naturally sweetened, and other dietary content.
Readers are welcome to discuss dietary adaptations.
However, please do not represent a personal experience as a guarantee of medical safety for someone else.
For example, a packaged ingredient that works for one person with a food sensitivity may not be appropriate for someone with a severe allergy.
Always verify labels, manufacturing practices, and individual medical needs independently.
Health and Medical Claims
Soulful Table may discuss nutrition, wellness, ingredients, body care, and lifestyle topics.
Comments may share personal experiences, but please avoid presenting unverified medical claims as established fact.
Comments may be moderated when they:
- Make dangerous medical claims
- Encourage someone to stop prescribed treatment
- Promote clearly unsafe health practices
- Present personal anecdotes as guaranteed cures
- Provide misleading emergency medical advice
Sharing your experience is different from diagnosing or treating another person.
When health information is important, readers should consult an appropriately qualified professional.
Body and Beauty Discussions
Soulful Table may publish homemade body-care, skincare, and beauty resources.
We welcome thoughtful questions and experiences.
Please remember that skin sensitivities, allergies, medications, and health conditions vary.
Comments should not guarantee that a product, ingredient, or homemade preparation will be safe for every person.
Home-Care and Cleaning Discussions
Soulful Table may publish natural home-care and cleaning resources.
We welcome practical tips and experiences.
However, comments recommending potentially dangerous chemical combinations may be removed or corrected.
Safety matters more than preserving a comment.
Travel and Restaurant Comments
Readers are welcome to share different experiences with:
- Restaurants
- Hotels
- Destinations
- Attractions
- Transportation
- Food tours
- Travel companies
- Local businesses
Experiences naturally differ.
You may describe your own experience honestly.
Please avoid:
- Knowingly false accusations
- Publishing private information about employees
- Threatening individuals
- Encouraging harassment of a business
- Posting information you know is fabricated
A respectful negative experience can be useful to other travelers.
Product Discussions
Soulful Table may recommend products through editorial reviews, affiliate links, sponsored content, or independent recommendations.
Readers are welcome to disagree with our recommendations.
Please share your genuine experience.
Commercial representatives should not pose as ordinary customers.
If you represent a company discussed in a comment, disclose that relationship.
Respect Other Commenters
Personal attacks are not allowed.
Do not target another commenter because of characteristics such as:
- Race
- Ethnicity
- National origin
- Religion
- Sex
- Gender
- Gender identity
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
- Age
- Family status
- Cultural background
Debate ideas.
Do not demean people.
Vegan and Non-Vegan Visitors
Soulful Table celebrates vegan and plant-forward living.
People may arrive here from many different places in their own journey.
Some may already be vegan.
Some may be exploring.
Some may be cooking for someone else.
Some may simply love the recipe.
People are welcome to participate respectfully.
Comments whose primary purpose is to shame, mock, or attack someone for where they are in their food or lifestyle journey may be removed.
Soulful Table is intended to encourage discovery, not humiliation.
Cultural Respect
Food belongs to cultures, families, regions, migrations, histories, and traditions.
We welcome thoughtful conversations about culinary origins and cultural context.
Please approach these discussions respectfully.
Racist, xenophobic, or demeaning comments about a culture, cuisine, nationality, or community are not welcome.
Constructive corrections concerning food history or attribution are welcome and can help us improve our work.
Creators, Chefs, and Sources of Inspiration
Soulful Table may discuss, reference, review, learn from, or be inspired by chefs, authors, recipe creators, restaurants, publications, YouTube creators, culinary traditions, designers, researchers, and other sources.
Readers are welcome to discuss those creators and sources.
Please distinguish between:
- Respectful criticism
- Factual discussion
- Personal opinion
- Harassment
Disagreeing with a creator is allowed.
Attacking, threatening, impersonating, or organizing harassment against a creator is not.
Please also avoid presenting speculation about another person’s intentions, private life, or business relationships as established fact.
Crediting Other Creators
If you share a recipe adaptation, technique, quotation, image, or idea from another identifiable creator, please credit the source when appropriate.
Do not post substantial copyrighted material belonging to another person without permission or another lawful basis.
This includes:
- Full articles
- Full recipes copied from another publication
- Photographs
- Paid newsletter content
- Book excerpts beyond reasonable quotation
- Downloadable materials
- Subscription-only content
A link to the original source is often more useful than copying the material into the comment section.
Intellectual Property
Please submit only content that you have the right to share.
Do not knowingly post material that infringes another person’s:
- Copyright
- Trademark
- Privacy rights
- Publicity rights
- Other intellectual-property rights
If you believe a comment contains material that infringes your rights, please contact Soulful Table so we can review the concern.
Artificial Intelligence and Comments
Artificial intelligence can be useful for many things, but Soulful Table comments are intended primarily for genuine community participation.
We may remove comments that appear to be:
- Mass-generated AI spam
- Automatically posted promotional content
- Repetitive machine-generated comments
- Fabricated personal experiences
- Automatically generated comments posted at scale
- Designed primarily to manipulate search rankings
Using AI to help organize your thoughts, improve grammar, translate your comment, or communicate more clearly is not a problem.
The concern is deceptive or automated participation that overwhelms authentic conversation.
Do Not Fabricate Personal Experience
Please do not claim that you:
- Cooked a recipe
- Purchased a product
- Visited a restaurant
- Stayed at a hotel
- Traveled to a destination
- Used a service
if you did not actually do so.
Questions and opinions are welcome without pretending to have personal experience.
Spam
Spam is not permitted.
Examples include:
- Repeated promotional messages
- Unrelated advertising
- Mass-posted comments
- Search-engine optimization spam
- Promotional keyword stuffing
- Repeated links to unrelated websites
- Automated comments
- Cryptocurrency promotions
- Unrelated business solicitations
Comments whose primary purpose is advertising rather than conversation may be removed.
Self-Promotion
Occasional relevant links may be appropriate when they genuinely help answer a question or contribute to the conversation.
However, Soulful Table comments are not a free advertising platform.
Please do not repeatedly promote:
- Your website
- Your business
- Your newsletter
- Your products
- Your social media accounts
- Your affiliate links
- Your paid services
If your connection to a linked resource is relevant, please disclose it.
Affiliate Links in Comments
Please do not post affiliate or referral links in Soulful Table comments unless Soulful Table has specifically authorized them.
Affiliate links may be removed even when the underlying comment remains.
Brand Representatives
Brands, restaurants, authors, creators, tourism organizations, and other businesses may participate in relevant discussions.
Please identify your relationship when commenting on behalf of or in connection with a business.
For example:
“Hi, I work with the company mentioned in this article and wanted to clarify…”
Transparency makes the conversation more useful.
Impersonation
Do not impersonate:
- Another commenter
- Soulful Table
- A Soulful Table team member
- A chef
- A creator
- A company representative
- A public figure
- Another individual
Comments designed to mislead readers about the identity or affiliation of the commenter may be removed.
Personal Information
Protect your privacy and the privacy of others.
Please do not post sensitive information such as:
- Home addresses
- Private phone numbers
- Personal email addresses
- Passwords
- Financial account information
- Payment-card information
- Government identification numbers
- Confidential medical information
- Another person’s private information
Soulful Table may remove personal information when we believe doing so helps protect someone’s privacy or safety.
Children’s Personal Information
Please use particular care when discussing children.
Do not publish unnecessary identifying information about a child.
This may include:
- Full names
- School information
- Home addresses
- Private medical records
- Detailed location information
- Other sensitive identifying information
Threats and Violence
Threats of violence are not permitted.
Comments encouraging, celebrating, coordinating, or threatening violence against another person or group may be removed and may be reported when appropriate.
Illegal Activity
Comments may not be used to knowingly facilitate unlawful activity.
Soulful Table may remove material we reasonably believe creates a serious legal or safety concern.
Profanity
Occasional conversational language is not automatically prohibited.
However, comments dominated by profanity, directed abuse, slurs, or hostile language may be removed.
Context matters.
Off-Topic Comments
A little natural conversation is welcome.
However, comments that are completely unrelated to the article or discussion may be removed, especially when they interfere with useful conversation.
Duplicate Comments
Duplicate or substantially identical comments may be removed.
If a comment does not appear immediately, please avoid repeatedly submitting the same message.
It may be awaiting moderation or spam review.
Comment Moderation
Comments may be moderated before or after publication.
Soulful Table reserves the right to:
- Approve comments
- Hold comments for review
- Remove comments
- Edit limited technical elements
- Close comments
- Disable commenting on particular content
- Restrict participation when necessary
We are not obligated to publish every comment submitted.
Editing Comments
We generally prefer not to change the substance of what a commenter wrote.
However, we may make limited edits when reasonably necessary, such as:
- Removing malicious links
- Removing personal information
- Correcting broken formatting
- Removing an unauthorized affiliate link
- Redacting clearly unsafe information
When a substantive issue requires significant editing, we may choose not to publish the comment instead.
Why a Comment May Be Removed
A comment may be removed for reasons including:
- Harassment
- Hate speech
- Threats
- Spam
- Deceptive promotion
- Impersonation
- Dangerous misinformation
- Copyright infringement
- Privacy violations
- Repeated off-topic posting
- Automated comment abuse
- Fabricated experiences
- Illegal content
- Unauthorized affiliate links
This list is not exhaustive.
Disagreement With Soulful Table
You do not have to agree with us.
Respectful criticism is welcome.
Comments will not be removed merely because they:
- Disagree with a recipe
- Challenge a recommendation
- Question our reasoning
- Correct a factual error
- Prefer another product
- Prefer another cooking method
- Have a different travel experience
- Offer another point of view
We want conversations that improve the resource.

If you believe Soulful Table published an error, please tell us.
Helpful corrections may include:
- Ingredient errors

- Accessibility barriers
- Misattribution
- Typographical errors
- Factual errors
We appreciate readers who help us make Soulful Table better.
Recipe Ratings
If recipe ratings are available, please rate recipes based on genuine experience whenever possible.
Do not intentionally manipulate ratings through:
- Multiple accounts
- Automated voting
- Coordinated false ratings
- Reviews from people who did not engage with the recipe
Questions about a recipe are welcome even if you have not made it.
Product Ratings and Reviews
If Soulful Table later allows product reviews, reviewers should disclose material relationships when relevant.
For example, disclose if:
- You work for the company
- The product was provided free to you
- You were paid to review it
- You have another significant connection to the company
Giveaways and Promotions
Comments associated with giveaways, contests, or promotions may be subject to additional official rules.
Where promotion-specific rules conflict with this Comment Policy, the promotion rules will govern that particular event.
Moderation Is Not Endorsement
Publication of a comment does not mean Soulful Table:
- Agrees with it
- Endorses it
- Has verified it
- Guarantees its accuracy
- Adopts it as our own opinion
Commenters are responsible for the views and information they choose to submit.
Community Advice Is Not Professional Advice
Comments may contain suggestions from other readers.
Those comments are not necessarily written or reviewed by medical, legal, financial, nutritional, travel, safety, or other professionals.
Use appropriate judgment before relying on another reader’s advice.
Links Posted by Commenters
Soulful Table does not necessarily review or endorse websites linked by commenters.
Use discretion before visiting or relying upon external websites.
Links may be removed when they appear unsafe, deceptive, irrelevant, promotional, or otherwise inconsistent with this policy.

When you submit a comment, information associated with that submission may be processed as described in our Privacy Policy.
Depending on the website configuration, information may include:
- Display name
- Email address
- Comment content
- IP address
- Browser or technical information
- Spam-detection information
Your email address is not intended to be displayed publicly merely because it is required for comment submission.
Please review our Privacy Policy for additional information.
Accessibility in Comments
We want the comment experience to remain accessible.
When practical, please:
- Use clear language
- Avoid unnecessary blocks of all-capital letters
- Give links understandable context
- Describe important information rather than relying only on emoji
- Avoid formatting that makes a comment unnecessarily difficult to read
If you experience an accessibility barrier while reading or submitting comments, please contact us.

Repeat Violations
Users who repeatedly violate this policy may have comments held for moderation, removed, or restricted.
Our goal is not to exclude people for making an ordinary mistake.
Repeated or deliberate abuse, however, can make the community less useful for everyone.

Pull Up a Chair
Soulful Table is not meant to be a place where everyone thinks exactly alike.
It is meant to be a place where people can discover something new, ask a question, share an experience, learn from one another, and leave with a little more inspiration than they arrived with.
Tell us what worked.
Tell us what you changed.
Tell us when something could be better.
Share the discovery you made in your kitchen.
Share the restaurant you loved.
Share what you learned.
Ask the question someone else may be wondering too.
Be curious.
Be generous.
Be yourself.
And remember that there is another human being sitting on the other side of the table.
